What is a Joy Walk Talk?
A Joy Walk Talk is a talk given in conjunction with Jeanine Joy’s cross country walk.
The Joy Walk is a walk Dr. Joy was inspired to plan and take as a way of giving back and uplifting others. Her goal is to build momentum that will bring awareness of practical scientifically supported solutions to the masses.
Today, when new research discovers technology, medical devices, or drugs, there is a profit lined path from the researchers to the marketplace. Advances occur quickly. The speed of these advances lulls us into believing that we are benefiting from research that is being done. But that is not true across the board.
When research uncovers new knowledge, there isn’t a profit lined path. There are advances in knowledge that would help us greatly reduce many social problems that most people would like to solve. But because the advances are knowledge-based, capitalism doesn’t provide a path from the researcher to market that reaches the masses.
Dr. Joy has read over 10,000 articles published in scientific journals and wants to share what she has learned with you. She takes the complex information from these studies and creates practical strategies anyone can use to make their life better. She finds ways to communicate these complex topics in ways that are so easy to understand that her audience often experiences “ah-ha” moments as they gain clarity by connecting the dots of different experiences they’ve had throughout their life that couldn’t be explained by what they knew.
Her goal is to reach as many people as she can. Because that’s her goal, she wants to give a speech each day and wants them to be free to anyone who wants to attend.
In general, Dr. Joy plans to talk to a group between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. every day. This may vary due to weather. For example, if she is walking in the snow or rain, she may choose to walk during the warmest part of the day. This will not generally impact evening talks but it could impact afternoon times.
What Can I Expect at a Joy Walk Talk?
Joy Walk Talks will usually be about an hour long and include music. Often, the music will be from our music sponsor’s collection of songs.
While the messages have a scientific basis, the focus is to empower people.
Jeanine seeks to inspire you to be more of who you want to be. She won’t tell you who you should be — she’ll tell you how to be the person you’ve dreamed of becoming.
Her voice of encouragement sounds like:
- “You can, in spite of . . . ”
- “No excuses are valid. Don’t argue for your limitations. Plenty of people will do that for you. Argue for your possibilities.”
- “Look at what is possible, not what you don’t know how to do.”
- “Put one step in front of the other and keep going.”
- “Don’t look back, everything you want is ahead of you.”
- “You’re in charge of you.”
- “Believe in yourself”
- “Look for the good in others”
- “There is good in others”
- “Develop an ‘If they can, so can I’ mindset.”

Support for the Joy Walk
Dr. Joy and her husband sold their home to reduce their expenses so she could fulfill this dream of creating momentum that will help people take advantage of scientific advances in knowledge that already exist but aren’t being used.
There are multiple ways to support the Joy Walk including direct donations, purchasing merchandise such as the line of inspirational t-shirts Dr. Joy developed, purchasing one of her many books, sharing her posts on social media, and more. She is looking for sponsors. She also needs volunteers who will pick her up at the end of her daily walk and return her to her vehicle (no more than 12 miles a day). Hosts to organize events where she’ll speak and any other contributions you believe will help create momentum that reaches more people.
